 DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

A privately held, $55M high-tech electronics manufacturing company near Springfield, IL seeks a Director of Human Resources to be a savvy, strategic business partner with experience helping a growing company successfully through a period of growth and a culture shift. This individual will find a unique professional opportunity to be able to leave a lasting mark on the company by helping rebuild the company’s Senior Leadership Team, providing HR counsel through anticipated M&A activity, and leading an organization-wide initiative to implement leadership coaching and professional development strategies.

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for:

  •  Working closely with business leaders to provide strategic HR support to address core business needs and provide HR expertise and counsel on staffing strategies and acquisition of key talent.

  •  Working with service line leaders to understand core capabilities needed to drive the business, and translate these into actionable leadership development programs.
  •  Consistently administering human resources policies and procedures across business functions. Keeping senior leaders appraised, in a timely manner, of any unusual employee situations and consulting with legal counsel, as appropriate.

Qualified applicants should have the following qualifications/ experiences:

  •  Undergraduate degree required. Graduate degree strongly preferred.
  •  Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive human resources generalist experience including recruitment, organizational development/change management, learning and development, and employee relations.
  •  Executive HR experience, including a strong consultative style with proven experience supporting senior executives.
  • Strong business acumen: Understanding the key financial drivers and dynamics related to growth and revenue goals of an organization.
  •  Proven customer-centric focus: The ability to influence a culture and create alignment among business goals, behaviors and compensation systems to drive performance.
  •  Strong project management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to deliver results with limited resources.

VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING

A privately held, $55M manufacturing company near Springfield, IL seeks an innovative, metric-driven and fiscally responsible marketing executive to develop an overall vision along with strategic and tactical marketing plans to support sales and develop new products to help fuel future growth and revenue.

The Vice President of Marketing is responsible for:

  • Leading and managing our client’s marketing functions by providing definition, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s overall market strategy both in the United States and abroad.
  • Additionally, as member of the Executive Team, you will participate in corporate level discussions regarding business direction (i.e. acquisitions and/or diversification) including areas outside of the marketing arena.
  • This position will collaborate with engineering, sales, and service to recommend and market future product line direction through concrete market and financial justification while ensuring that customer needs are the driving focus behind all development projects proposed.
  • Your expertise should include prior experience associated with upstream product marketing (i.e., identifying and analyzing new product opportunities and assessing market dynamics) as well as having provided support and guidance to downstream product managers through the use of pricing models, product launch planning, and analysis of financial performance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Manage the marketing team, product managers, and product lines for all applications.
  •  Work closely with business development team to define strategic product/technology gaps and identify innovative opportunities in existing or adjacent markets for released products and product derivatives.
  •  Translate customer needs into new product ideas, including new technologies, new products and upgraded product offerings, then drive new product development by providing practical marketing leadership,
  •  Develop overall strategy to increase market share and penetration; devise plans, road maps and milestones to effectively manage the business process and ensure that marketing deliverables are timely and complete.
  •  Implement marketing campaigns based on established metrics for promotion effectiveness.
  •  Manage the process of developing and updating sales and marketing materials and collaborate on cross-functional training programs.
  •  Develop marketing budget and oversight for domestic and European divisions. Develop and manage promotional marketing strategy and implement trade shows, conferences, customer interface, and advertising campaigns.
  •  Develop overall marketing strategy to increase sales to OEMs and other customers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. An advanced degree (MBA and/or advanced technical degree) are preferred.
  •  10+ years in a marketing leadership role with increasingly responsible job functions.
  •  Proven experience in developing and implementing effective marketing plans along with clearly defined product development plans for multiple product lines.
  •  Participatory and leadership experience in the development of new and innovative products through collaborative efforts.
  •  Excellent project management skills, including ability to effectively manage multiple projects, requests and assignments simultaneously
  •  Experience developing and maintaining operating budgets.

In addition:

  •  Significant experience in customer relations (both internal/external) as well as with Six Sigma, VOC and “Stage-Gate” tools and techniques is highly desirable.
  •  Familiarity with the AgTech and Public Works markets, related products, technologies and applications, and OEM equipment is a plus.
  • Approximately 20% to 30% of time is spent traveling to corporate and customer locations in the US, Europe and abroad (passport required).

DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

Our client, a Twin Cities mid-size global high-tech manufacturing company seeks a Director of Engineering to join their leadership team. This is a newly created position due to growth and expansion. This person is responsible for all phases of engineering development and strives to drive positive growth in the organization. This role requires leadership in operating projects under a multidisciplinary model – Product Management, Program Management, Engineering, Service, and Operations. The Director of Engineering works with the VP Product Management and other senior managers to meet product development objectives. The role of Director of Engineering requires a demonstrated ability to lead people and manage projects to meet cost, schedule, performance, and quality objectives.

THE DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING IS RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• Works closely with Project Managers to develop and manage a product development roadmap and supporting resource plan. Insures that development schedules are both achievable and aggressive.
• Reviews business plans, product requirements, verification/validation plans, and other key deliverables for development projects. Insures that development teams incorporate extensive customer feedback throughout the entire design cycle.
• Drives project teams towards meeting established commitments on milestones, budget, and release dates. Insures that product quality, performance, and margin goals are met.
• Works with VP Product Development and Technical Leads to estimate product development requests and establish development priorities.
• Insures that established phase gate process is followed. Supports compliance audits as necessary.
• Communicates status of active development projects to company stakeholders. Insures that revenue maps and other project metrics are maintained.
• Looks for ways to minimize design cycles and development cost through standard platforms and components.
• Ensures the smooth transition of new products from R&D into pilot production and service.
• Leverages past experience and strong communication skills to collaborate closely with marketing, regulatory, quality, supply chain, and operations to meet ambitious project development timelines.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Engineering supervises the Engineering Project Managers and other senior level Engineers, as well as advises the VP Product Management on hiring, promotion, training, and termination decisions for the functional group. The Director of Engineering writes performance reviews and goals and objectives for all direct reports.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• Master’s Degree, MBA, or PMI certification are desired.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability, Design of Experiments, Six Sigma, and FMEA are desired.
• 8-10 years related experience in program management and product development relating to manufacturable products.
• 5 years of supervisor/management experience.
